About Sow & Sheaf
Our story
A Christian family brand rooted in Psalm 126:5–6.
Our mission
Equip the parents, strengthen the next generation
We are Christian-minded naturalists who want to empower moms and dads, which will empower the next generation. When moms and dads are equipped, the next generation is strengthened.
We make practical, faith-rooted guides for Christian families who want to honor God's design for birth, the home and the raising of children. We favor home birth and birth with a midwife, natural and low-intervention care, and breastfeeding. We write with conviction, but without fear or shame. And we speak to dads as directly as to moms, because a husband's steady presence matters, especially in the labor room.

A word from Brandon
From the letter that opens Covered:
I'm a dad of three, and I married a woman with more courage than I'll ever have. Six years ago she became a mom in the most beautiful way, and I'll be straight with you: if I'd been the one carrying that baby, I wouldn't have had the courage to even consider it. Then she did it again. And again. Her commitment to natural birth inspires me, and with each birth she never ceases to amaze me.
So hear me on this. The woman next to you is stronger than you think. She doesn't need a hero. She needs you.

The meaning of our name
Sow & Sheaf
“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”Psalm 126:5–6 (KJV)
Sowing in tears. In Psalm 126, a farmer goes out weeping, carrying seed that is precious to him, and plants it anyway. He doesn't sow because it's easy. He sows in faith that God will bring the harvest.
Reaping in joy. The same man “shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” A sheaf is a bundle of harvested grain, bound together and carried home. The tears come first, and the joy follows.
What it means for families. Labor is a hard season of sowing: real work and sometimes tears, and then the joy of holding your baby. Parenting is sowing too, in sleepless nights, daily patience, prayers and small faithful choices. Psalm 126 promises that those who sow in tears will come again rejoicing, and we believe the faithful, everyday work of parenting is exactly that kind of sowing. The harvest is joy, and a family bound together like the sheaf in our logo.
That's what we mean by Sow faithfully. Raise a harvest.
